- I am in favor of an EU4 DLC which officially extends the timeline to 1836 and adds mechanics for the Early Industrial Revolution. If PDS makes Victoria 3 in the future, EU4 would be at least near the end of it's development. It would be much easier to make an official converter for EU4 to Vic3 if EU4 isn't constantly changing like it is now.
- The EU4 to Vic2 converter is a tool that takes a Europa Universalis 4 save and generates a Victoria 2 scenario from it. It can be downloaded from this forum thread or from Steam. Europa Universalis 4 mods. The Europa Universalis 4 to Victoria 2 converter takes your save from EU4 and lets you preserve enjoying in Paradox's 19th Century.

A place to share content, ask questions and/or talk about Paradox Interactive games and of the company proper. Some franchises and games of note: Stellaris, Europa Universalis, Imperator: Rome, Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron, Victoria and Cities: Skylines.
Welcome to the EU4 to Vic2 Converter project! The goal of this project is to allow a Europa Universalis 4 campaign to be transferred and continued in Victoria 2, so you may continue your game uninterrupted, from 1444 to 1936, and further using our other converters from Crusader Kings 3 and to Hearts of Iron 4.
Running a continuous campaign from CK2 all the way to HoI4 is called running a mega-campaign.
- Stable release of the converter currently supports EU4 1.30 and Victoria 2 3.0.4. EU4 DLCs are optional, both Vic2 expansions are mandatory.
- Development release of the converter is compatible with EU4 1.30
- This mod is not intended to be enabled in game. It is only a delivery vehicle for the converter's download link.
- You can also download the converter directly from our forums thread[forum.paradoxplaza.com] or from Github.
To set up the converter, you'll need to follow the simple steps below:
- Subscribe to the this mod.
- If the mod does not immediately begin downloading, you may need to start EU4 launcher to trigger the download.
- Go to your mod folder (usually C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent236850392447667, or elsewhere if you moved your steam library)
- Inside it find and open downloadLink.txt.
- Within that file are direct links to the converter's stable and development versions. Pick one and download it. Development versions are fresher and usually better.
- Unzip the downloaded converter by right-clicking on it and selecting Extract All…
- Finally, go to the extracted converter's directory and fire it up by running ConverterFrontend.exe.
If you downloaded the converter directly from forums or github, you only need to execute steps 6 and 7.
Every converter has a detailed documentation available at its wiki page[eu4.paradoxwikis.com].
Very generally, it takes your Europa Universalis 4 saved game and converts it into a Victoria 2 mod.
You then have to enable that mod when starting Vic2 launcher:
- Start the Vic2 Launcher.
- Select the converted mod.
- Click Start Victoria 2.
We are always open to suggestions on improving our converters and will gladly help you out if you hit a problem.
Best place for discussion on improving the converters are our Paradox forum release thread[forum.paradoxplaza.com] and development thread[forum.paradoxplaza.com].
When resolving issues we will always need if your conversion's log.txt. You can find it in your converter's folder after conversion. Come to the release thread linked above and upload your log.txt there, along with a detailed description of your problem. We may need additional data like your running savegame or mods used, which you can also upload to the forums directly.
Keep in mind Steam discussion below is not suited to troubleshooting as you cannot upload files we need.

This is another smaller update. There are some fixes that should lead to fewer reports from the validator tool (and who knows, maybe fewer other bugs). PTSnoop fixed the tags bug that everyone had. He also fixed some flag stuff. Kwsdev also made some improvements to the frontend. If I read it right, you can now cancel in progress conversions, and the frontend should now automatically decompress saves for you if needed. If in the future we get a simple tool that will automatically de-ironman saves, it should support that easily, too.
In case you missed it, /u/thatsgerman10 created a minimod to add to the converter that gives some decisions to help the Americas be a bit more dynamic. Forum link/Download link.
Also, remember that your best best for support is to go to the forum thread (where plenty of people will be eager to help). If you don't have forum access, a new post will probably bring people to help you. Requests here are likely to be ignored, as I simply don't have the time to do the first round of support and others don't check regularly here.

Q: I have an ironman save. Can it be converted?
A: Well in fact you can transform an ironman save into a normal save. I have already tried it.
Locate your ironman save on your computer. If it's on the cloud, there is a copy there : .Steamuserdatayour account236850remotesave games
Copy it on the 'local' save game directory and edit the copy with a software (notepad++ may be very usefull)
On the first line you will found the three letters of the tag of your nation (BYZ for exemple)
Replace it with another : (FRA because the BBB is always around hehe)
Load the savegame. You will play like france (strange ?)
Save it, change again the nation on the new save
TADAM ! It's no more ironman but a regular save
Thanks to Helkoi for the technique!

Q: I loaded my mod, but nothing changed. What's wrong? A: You probably placed the mod in the My Documents mod folder. It needs to go in the Vic2 install location's mod folder. Alternately, you don't have AHD of HoD. The converter doesn't support non-HoD Vic2 (though it might work anyway), and vanilla Vic2's mod folder doesn't work at all. If you really want to try, you'll have to make a copy of your game install and copy the mod on top of the copy. But really, do yourself a favor and get AHD and HoD.
Q: Vic2 is crashing at converting history. What do I do?
A: Try going into the mod and deleting history/units. If it now loads, likely a navy got placed badly. Open up log.txt and search for warnings. If any mention whitelisting and blacklisting, open port_blacklist.txt and add the provinces in the warnings to file file. Save it and reconvert. Repeat checking for the warnings and adding the provinces until there are no more warnings. You should now get a working mod. Make sure to inform the team of any provinces you had to add so we can include them in future releases.
Q: Vic2 is crashing at Initializing Maplogic. What do I do? A: Clear your map cache by deleting the cache folder inside '../victoria 2/map/' in both My Documents and the Victoria 2 install location.
Q: I have an error of some kind not mentioned here. How do I get help?
A: Ask on the forum thread or start a new post in /r/paradoxplaza. Posts here may not be noticed or answered.
